One of the things that I'm convinced about is that we're wired for story. Our lives are immersed in them. Just think about how often throughout the day we sneak a glance at our mobile phones to check out the latest happenings on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
The Hill Country arose from our team recognising the need for young people to be able to access real-life stories and lived experiences, in order that they can make sense of their own. Some of the stories and reflections you’ll read here will leave you wondering whether you’re supposed to laugh or cry, be outraged or consoled, active or still.
What excites us most about this blog is that like Mary in the opening chapter of Luke's Gospel, we too feel called to go in haste to new lands. For us, these new lands incite in us a sense of great adventure, as well as beckon us to a place where young people can feel at home in who they are, where stories of life can be exchanged, and where they can have the confidence to not settle for anything less than they deserve. We do this guided by the Author of Life, and that in Mary's way we might be bearers of daring hope and audacious vision.
"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can imagine what God has done from beginning to end." - Ecclesiastes 3:11
