St Joseph's College Hunters Hill is the venue for the Marist Youth Festival. All festival participants will be provided with accommodation including bed, pillow, linen and blankets in one of several boarding residences. This includes:

    •    Adult females (including volunteers) - single room accommodation with shared bathroom facilities

    •    Adult males (including volunteers) - single room accommodation with shared bathroom facilities

    •    Year 12 female students - dormitory style accommodation with shared bathroom facilities

    •    Year 12 male students - dormitory style accommodation with shared bathroom facilities

    •    School supervisors (adjacent to Year 12 student participants) - single room accommodation with shared bathroom facilities

You will need to bring 

    •    Warmth winter clothing

    •    Towel and personal toiletries

    •    Rain jacket

    •    Personal items as needed (medication etc.)


All meals for the Festival including breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner will be provided by Alliance caterers. For specific dietary requirements please refer to the registration form.

MYF17 Refund Policy

If owing to personal circumstances, you are unable to attend the Festival, please read the following information.

Before June 9 2017: Refund is available less $20 administration fee.

From June 10 2017: No refund available however your registration can be transferred to a new person.

To transfer a registration please contact the Festival office to receive a transfer code which will enable you to register the new attendee.

Before June 9 2017: Transfer free of $10 applies.

From June 10 2017: Transfer fee of $20 applies.

First Aid

A volunteer registered nurse will be available throughout the duration of the Festival between 8am and 10am. A designated First Aid centre will be located at the rear of the main Festival Hall. For emergencies contact a Festival committee member or your designated school supervisor.


MGT Security will provide 24-hour security throughout the duration of the Festival.

Getting to the Festival

Public transport to and from St Joseph’s College is available from the city via Bus from Town Hall (X06 or 506) to Ryde Road Hunters Hill. No private parking is available inside the College during the Festival. There is limited on-street parking available in nearby residential streets, as available.

Awaken is a call to embrace the life that Jesus invites you to live, with all your God-given gifts: “Arise, awaken and Christ will shine on you” (Ephesians 5:14).

Awaken invites you to listen deeply, like Mary, to the God-life stirring within, calling you to get up, move out of yourself and live fully the present moment.

Awaken challenges you to bring God’s mercy and compassion to a world in need, especially to those who are vulnerable and neglected by our society.

Awaken echoes the words of Pope Francis, urging you to ‘wake up the world’ through the witness of your faith, by growing a culture of encounter and inclusion, rather than a culture of indifference and exclusion. 

MYF17 invites you to enter into a space of encounter and dialogue with others, the world and God; to be awakened by the Holy Spirit to the gifts and potential you have to offer and to be transformed by the message of Jesus. 

200 years since St Marcellin Champagnat began his project, MYF17 reminds us that as Marists we exist to Awaken the hearts and minds of young people to a new beginning, inspiring within them a creative passion for living the Gospel with justice and compassion, so they may be servant leaders in the Church and in society.
