We journey south today to Le Puy-en-Velay.

Le Puy has been a religious centre since the ancient times, thanks in part to its mystical landscape of volcanic pinnacles.

On arrival we have the opportunity to climb the flight of sixty steps to the Cathedral of Notre Dame Du Puywith its exotic façade, striped in courses of white sandstone and black volcanic breccia.

Further on we come to the Chapel of Saint Michel D’Aiguilhe. Built in 962 and enlarged in the 12th century, the chapel stands atop a rocky pinnacle 260 feet high.
